New Minimum Admission Entry Qualifications for Undergraduate Students

A. DEGREE COURSES:

All applicants under degree programmes should apply direct to the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). Information on the mode of application is available on TCU website www.tcu.go.tz . Applications should be submitted between 1st March, 2016 and 30th June, 2016.

 

1. Completed A-Level studies before 2014

Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from Two Subjects defining the admission into the respective programme (where A = 5; B = 4;C= 3; D = 2; E = 1).

 

2. Completed A-Levelstudies in 2014 and 2015

Two principal passes (Two Cs) with a total of 4.0 points from Two Subjects defining the admission into the respective programme (where A = 5; B+= 4; B = 3; C= 2; D = 1).

 

3. Completed A –Level studies from 2016

Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from Two Subjects defining the admission into the respective programme (where A = 5; B = 4;C= 3; D = 2; E = 1).

 

4. Recognition of Prior Learning qualification

B+ Grade: where A =75-100, B+ = 65-74, B=50-64,C =40-49, D = 35-39, F = 0-38.

 

5. Equivalent applicants

At least four O’-Level passes (Ds and above) or NVA Level III with less than four O’-Level passes or equivalent foreign qualifications as established by either NECTA or VETA; AND

i) At least a GPA of 3.5 for Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6); OR

ii) Average of B for Full Technician Certificate (FTC) (where A=5, B=4, C=3,and D=2 points); OR

iii) Average of ‘B+’ Grade for Diploma in Teacher Education; OR

iv) Average of ‘B+’ Grade for Health related awards such as Clinical Medicine and others; OR

v) A Distinction for unclassified diplomas and certificates.

vi) Upper Second Class for classified non-NTA diplomas.

 

B: PROGRAMME SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

In addition to meeting the general admission requirements, applicants may be required to meet programme specific requirements as follows:

  • For BA, (Mass Com), BA (LIS) and LLB programmes, one must have a credit in English at O Level or at  least a Subsidiary pass in English at A Level.
  • For BBA, one must have a pass in Mathematics at O Level or a subsidiary at A Level or at least a D grade in Maths or Statistics or Quantitative Methods in their Diplomas.

 Fees & Funding + Loan

Your tuition fees will cover the cost of your study at the University as well as charges for registration, tuition, supervision and examinations. Payment of fees will also entitle you to membership of the Library, and the Students' Union. Fees vary for each course. Details of individual course fees can be found in the course profiles:

Tuition fees can be paid into our Bank Accounts; Maendeleo Bank Account No. 013828266011, CRDB Bank Account No. 01J1021002200 or NBC Bank Account No. 011103030931 by the following methods:

i. Personal cheque (drawn on a Tanzania account)
ii. Bankers' draft (in Tanzania Shillings or equivalent)
   Please note that payment in cash is not accepted at the College.

NOTE: The College reserves the right to change fees, deposits and other charges   provided the students and their sponsors are notified before the academic year that follows when the changes will be applicable.

Policy on Payment of fees.

  • A prospective student must complete the fee payment agreement and file it with the Bursar.
  • A student is not allowed into any lecture or tutorial session and cannot enjoy any College facility without being appropriately registered with the College.
  • Any student attempting to attend classes or access any other College facility is subject to expulsion.
